about to go nutsssssssss
|
which is strange.. took it to a friends yesterday.. where the master out is on the pioneer djm 400 ... you got the two whites on top and two reds on bottom... i plug in the rca jack from the deck into the bottom red and it like gets distorted or sound goes lower.. if i remove it the sound comes back up, but guess what.. only sound on one of my monitors... then to top it off i was recording a few mins ago to see how it is.. the left channel sounds good when recording and as i begin to bring the right deck... when recording and in playback... the sound goes out WTF is going on here?
do i have my connections set up correctly?
http://www.skratchworx.com/images/Pioneer/djm400/djm400_back.jpg
that's just a picture from online.. and I have my decks plugged into the phono jack and i have my settings set on stereo.. and where that master out is.. that's were i'm having trouble so any help would be good.. i'm really tripping right now.. i have a headache after a night of drinking and to top it off my headphones seem to be going out also *i think*

I had sorta the same issue..
Are your turntables internally grounded? Like do you not have the little wire that comes off the back of your decks?
If thats the case, make sure you mixer is 3 prongged and plugged into a 3 prong outlet.
If your mixer is not internally grounded.. Make sure your ground wires are not touching the rca jacks on the mixer.. I had that happen and it messed up the sound.

yes they are internally grounded..as for the mixer being plugged into a 3 prong outlet..the power cord is connected into one. i checked the wiring also to make sure nothing is touching.. i know that the stylus can also be a reason why i would get sound off of one speaker and not the other..and i was told that this intends to happen since stylus also wear out

Ive never been a fan of internally grounded decks. If your mixer does not have a 3 prong plug, then internally grounded decks have a good change of sounding like shit.
Take the cart off the tone arm, and clean the contacts on the cart and inside the tone arm really well. I use a knife on the tips in the tone arm. Yea, you want to unplug the deck from your mixer before doing that.

I'll look into it. Thanks KDH. appreciate that man.. Really wanna practice on the decks and to top it off I don't know if it's the sound from the speakers on if it's the cleaning that really needs to be done, but my headphones sounds crappy when one of the decks are playing... i don't know what it is, but a friend told me last night could be my headphones... or the plug in on the mixer where the headphones goo... any thoughts?

Re:

all possible. Start simple.
Unplug everything. Plug one deck in at a time. If one deck works fine.. Unplug it, and plug the other one in. If they both sound fine, plug them both in. Then sound test with your head phones in.
take it down to the most basic level and go from there.
