There has been a lot of confusion about this feature of the site and how to find and edit them...

There are 2 places you'll need to change it. First go into your control pannel, and then click on Account info over in the right hand tool bar, once there, at the bottom there should be a spot to upload a new picture. The 2nd place, again go into your control pannel, click on Artist in the top left corner, once the page loads, at the bottom is the 2nd place you'll need to change your picture.

This will change the picture that is seen in the forums, and also when people come to your profile.

The site also has some built in caching, so when you change your picture, the new picture will not display right away. Give it about an hour and the site will update itself.

So here is the easy to understand text version of what he's trying to say.
