So work bought me and a few other developers iPads for iOS development projects, they're ours as an 'incentive' to take home and 'explore' the feature sets but primarily its to use as a testing platform for development.

I've been a skeptic of this device since it came out, i'm not an Apple fan and i've never owned an Apple product until my iPhone3G; to me it's an alright phone (when it works), email client and gps but I rarely use it for anything more. I primarily live in a world of Windows & Linux, I supported a graphics design department for several years so OSX isn't at all foreign, just never my personal choice. Mostly because the high price point Apple charges for 'less-the-equal' hardware but I also find no real advantage to OSX for my needs... until now

Work has me on several new web projects that involve iOS development. They ordered me a Mac mini to pile on my desk in between my Windows7 and Fedora dev machines, then an iPad and away I go into OSX/iOS development.

My initial thought when this thing first came out 'its just a overblown iPhone'... i'm still in that court for the moment. Will this device have the potential to become part of my daily IT regiment? Will the features sets blow me a way and make me beleive the iOS SDK is powerful enough to support business productivity suites via the web?

I just got it today and don't have much time to play with it now so i'll keep updating things here as I get more acquainted with the device....

What are your thoughts on the iPad? I want to know what the EDJ Family thinks about this 'revolutionary' device.

Next year, there will be a droid version of the iPad, I'm sure of it.

The iPad looks pretty cool but I have no use for it. On top of that, I don't like Mac.
