EDJ: What inspired you to become a DJ?
Rusher: Well, I actually started DJing thru producing, I started "producing" Hardcore Techno when I was 12 years old, and like one year later I started buying records...
EDJ:Did you play any other instruments before you became a DJ?
Rusher:Haha, yeah, believe it or not, but I played accordeon when I was a kid, but only for like three years, other than that I played around with nearly everything I got a noise out of.
EDJ:Why did you get into production?
Rusher:Mainly because I didnt just want to consume the music I love, but also wanted to create it and be part of it.
EDJ:What kind of gear do you use to make your tunes?
Rusher:I mostly use software, Cubase is the sequencer of my choice, combined with some VST's. I also have some hardware, but I rarely use it nowadays.
EDJ:What kind of gear do you prefer to use when playing you DJ(Cds, Vinyl, Computer)?
Rusher:I started DJing with Vinyl, so I still prefer the vinyl feeling, I'm not a CD guy really, now I'm completely happy with Traktor Scratch, its the best system I've ever played with.
EDJ:Do you draw inspiration from other genres of music?
Rusher:Yeah, I think listening to hardcore all those years inspired me or at least shaped my syle a lot.
EDJ:Will you be touring the US anytime soon?
Rusher:A USA Tour was planned but I had to cancel it due to some personal issues. But I do have a gig in L.A. in July, we'll see maybe I'll get some more gigs for that time.
EDJ:How is the seen in Germany?
Rusher:The scene in Germany is pretty weird, every city has its own style, lucky as I am I live in rave city haha, jump up is pretty big in my city, which kinda sucks but people now appreciate what I'm doing, took a while but it was worth it.
EDJ:Any words of advice to aspiring DJ/Producers?
Rusher: Yeah, dont try to sound like anyone else, do your own thing and dont give a fuck about other peoples opinion as long as you have fun doing what you do. Dont expect miracles when u start producing, be patient, finding your own style might be the hardest part of being a producer. And of course creating something unique is much harder than just copying stuff, but its definately worth it.
