What other types of music do you listen to?

i recenly started making minimal techno, electro music together with a friend so i listen
alot to this type of music nowdays to get into the sound but dnb remains nr1 for me :)
other then that hiphop, metal and anything electronic music that is well produced and gets me moving

You mentioned working with crossfire, what was that like?

we are friends for a long time and always been into the same tunes so we got the idea
back in the days to join our forces and play out together so we did some gigs but
after a while we decided to each go our own way , last year i did a tune
with him and it's has been alot fun to work in his studio, he has alot of equipment so it's faster to work
the only problem is we use a different sequencer so i was mostly pitching ideas and creating sounds
and the tune we did wasn't the sound we expected it to be, but will get back into the studio together this year to make something new

What did you learn from your collaboration experience?

it's alot harder than i thought starting a tune from zero with someone but it goes way faster then working on your own,
you both want to push the boundaries and there always one who has a idea
on a dj side i prefer mixing on my own so there is more room for combos and building up to a climax

How is the Belgium DnB scene?

the scene here is very healthy ,the belgian dnb crowd is on all sides present, every weekend there are a lots of dnb partys to choose from
with the biggest names from the scene, some bigger events have attracked about 5000 people , there's also a weekly
dnb night on wednesday evening in ghent so i can't complain overhere.

Where do you get most of your ideas from?

i listen to alot of music at work so when i go home i can't wait to get start producing beats ,
there's everday a new idea i want to try out so i start from that and making sounds upfront ,
as the tune evolves i keep adding elements to it that i kinda hear played back in my head and try to recreate that

You said, you got into DnB at the age of 15. How old are you now?

im 24 now, i started djing proper 2 years later and producing i toke seriously around 2003,
i messed around for a long time before that with lots of diffrent programs

What production software/hardware do you use?

i use fl studio 8 with alot of vst plugins running on a heavy pc with mackie hr 824 monitors and m-audio soundcard ,
i also have an roland electronic drum set wich i sometimes use to play in my beats,
my favorite vst's Native instruments Massive , Virsyn Tera 3 and Rgcaudio Z3ta ,
i also just bought Camel Audio Alchemy this week wich will get used alot in my new tunes

What dj setup do you perfer(mixer/turntables/pc/cdjs)?

pioneer cdjs-1000 mk3, technics sl-1200 mkII decks and a pioneer djm-800 mixer is all i need

What do you think digital has done to vinyl? Do you collect vinyl?

i have a huge collection of vinyl at home and i still love vinyl i hope it's never gonna disspear,
digital releases have definitly increased the sales from vinyl but there will always people around who will stick to mixing records
it's more satisfying when you have a tune out on vinyl then digital wich anyone can do,
but i think digital releases are a good thing aswell its alot cheaper and easyer to care around with and
you can find alot of tunes back wich you never found on vinyl, so it's a combination of both for me

What do you think makes you stand out from everyone else?

i don't see myself as the most original producer to be honest but every new tune i make i try to make it better then the previous one ,
i put alot of time into my tunes and i don't reuse the same samples over and over again to have a own sound

What do you have planned for 2009?

first up is a vinyl release on corinthian recordings, im working on a tune at the moment but want it to be the best i can achieve,
the other side is the skynet remix of my tune metamorphia because we felt in needed a proper vinyl release aswell
we are gonna start with limited copies because you never know how well it's gonna sell with vinyl releases these days
and just see how much demand there is for it,
im also gonna be busy with my minimal techno project this year and hope to release something with that aswell.

Have you considered playing in the states?

yeah i would love to do that , it's been offerd to me a few times allready but never whent thru ,
i hope it will happen so i can do a tour overthere and rock the crowds in the states

How does it feel to be recognized by a big name like skynet and for him to remix Metamorphia?

the skynet remix was a move from corinthian recordings to get them more exposure for the label
so they asked a established artist like skynet to do a remix for them but it was great to hear
that he liked my tune ennuf to make a remix of it yeah , i've been a long time fan of his work
and i got the honour to send over the samples and have a chat with the man.
